June 2, 2020, I received the second set of edits for my book with the working title Second Chance at Happiness. My editor said this round was much better, but we definitely still have some work to do.
It took me a couple of days to open the file and take a beginning look at what work we still have to do. I’m only three chapters in and have not hit any major snags yet, for which I am thankful. Even so, I move forward with fear and trepidation because I want my work to be better than it is, which has everything to do with the editing process.
For my writer friends who are published, have you ever suffered fear and trepidation while going through the editing process? I would be interested in hearing your stories. How long has it taken you to edit a 75,000 word document? I plan to take a month and a half. Less time would be better, but my editor said there was no hurry. So I’m taking bite-sized bits of say a chapter a day. Off the top of my head, I think I have 25 chapters though I’m not sure and won’t scroll through the book to find out. I don’t want to mess up any edits I’ve already finished. Yes, the book and edits are saved. I just don’t want to scroll through incase I see large areas of side-bar comments that make me want to stop and read. No, no, no. I’ll take the comments as they come.
